This page is for journalists, editors and researchers. It sets out who to ask, what this clinic will stand behind, and what it will not say however the question is put. If you need something that is not here, ask and we will either send it or tell you plainly that we do not have it.

We reply within one working day. Istanbul runs 7 to 8 hours ahead of US Eastern time, so a message sent during a US afternoon is answered the following morning here. On deadline, say so in the subject line and we will work to it.

Who to quote

Dr. Harun Eymen Alakaya — Hair Transplant Physician and Afro Hair Specialist, Afro Hair Clinic.

Please use that title as written. The documentation behind every clinician on this site, including which certificates we have sighted and which we are still waiting for, is published and kept current on our verification record. We would rather you saw the gaps than took our word for the rest.

The clinic, in short

  • Istanbul-based practice working exclusively with Afro-textured hair, types 3A to 4C.
  • Founded 2021. Team of 20. Operating from a five-floor, 3,000-square-metre hospital complex.
  • Over 2,000 patients treated since founding.
  • Every medical statement published on this site is either tied to an openly citable source or withheld until it is.

The figures in the second and third points are clinic-stated: they come from us and have not been independently audited. Everything clinical on this site is held to a different standard, and the difference is deliberate.

What we will not say

These are not preferences. They are the terms on which this clinic talks to the press, and they hold however the question is asked.

  • No guarantee of a result. Individual outcomes vary and no outcome is promised.
  • No superlatives. Not "the best", not "leading", not "number one in Turkey". If a draft contains one, it did not come from us.
  • No graft count and no price before an examination. A quote given from photographs is a sales figure, not a plan, and we will not supply one for a story either.
  • No patient photographs. Our consent forms are conditional on identity remaining confidential, so before-and-after images are not ours to hand out, retrospective permission included.
  • No claim that surgery cures traction alopecia or CCCA. Both can make someone a poor candidate, and saying otherwise would send readers toward an operation they may not need.
Three circular icons struck through with a diagonal line: a speech bubble containing a tick, an award rosette, and a stack of cards.
The first three, drawn: no guarantee, no superlative, no figure before an examination.
Two circular icons struck through with a diagonal line: a framed photograph and a circular arrow.
And the last: no patient photograph, and no permission sought after the fact.

Checking what we publish

  • Verification record — every published claim with its source, and what is still outstanding.
  • Editorial policy — what gets published, what gets withheld, and who decides.
  • Research — what we measure, how we define it, and what we have not started.

Background for a story

  • Traction alopecia — the most common cause of hair loss in this group, reversible early and permanent once it scars.
  • CCCA — the most common scarring hair loss in women of African descent.
  • Hair loss in Black women — telling the causes apart.
  • Afro Hair Lab — free tools that request no photographs, collect no personal data and offer no diagnosis.

Logos and images

Brand assets are available on request from press@afrohairclinicturkey.com. We do not supply clinical or patient imagery, for the reason given above.

Coverage

Nothing yet. This clinic has not previously worked with the press, and rather than leave an empty heading here we would rather say so. Published pieces will be listed on this page as they appear.
